Photography is all about getting outside. Not one of my favorite pictures were planned, but they all have one thing in common...I left the house (not always easy!). Of the thousands of pictures I took in 2024,  hundreds turned out.  Of those hundreds, these are some of my favorites. Thank you for taking the time to look at them.
War Eagle Mill and bridge, Rogers, Arkansas.  I waited until the sun went down enough to capture the lights on the garland.  Although I didn't intend to capture the headlights, after seeing it at home I loved it and chose this image.

I set out on a drive in the country hoping to catch a pretty sunrise picture.  I'd never been here before and the timing was unplanned.  I love the color of the sky, the freshly baled hay, and the perfectly located country church.

Sunset walk nearing the end of autumn.  Past peak, but enough color to provide gorgeous and peaceful end to the day.

A dreary winter day.  I didn't hold much hope for finding anything interesting on my walk. When I saw this stream along the path and the amazing twisted, mossy roots, I loved the mood.

It's not often there is fog in my area, so I was excited when I went on a drive through the park and came across this patch of grass and trees.  I pulled over because I was mesmerized by the color and the mood of the forest.

This was taken about an hour west of Fargo, ND. and is one of my favorite images ever. The barn is just off the exit at Embden  on I-94.  When I took the picture, it was so dark I couldn't see much of the barn.  What I could see was the Milky Way, stretched above me in the sky.  It was spectacular.

On May 10th a massive solar storm made the Aurora Borealis visible throughout much of the United States.  Although I couldn't see it with my naked eye, I was able to capture it with my camera in northern Arkansas.  This is my favorite image from that night.

October 6th I crossed off a bucket list item by seeing the Northern Lights with my naked eye. Another big solar storm came and I was perfectly located in North Dakota. I'll never forget seeing the lights dance overhead.

This barn is a favorite subject of mine, and when I got the alert that the Northern Lights were going to be visible,  I jumped in the car and drove straight here.

On April 8, 2024, a total solar eclipse was witnessed across parts of the United States. Friends came down from Minnesota to Arkansas for the event, and we drove just over an hour from my house to see Totality.  We ended up in a park in a small town with people who had driven from all over the country. In my excitement I nearly missed the photographs, but I did get these 3. I only had seconds because I didn't buy a filter, thus could only point my camera at it during totality. It was the most amazing thing I have ever witnessed on this earth, and so glad we drove the extra distance to get the full effect.

I love this image from downtown Fargo at the Fargo Theater.  It captures the vibrance of this Midwestern city.  It is a college town and it comes to life on weekends, no matter how cold it may be.

Sheyenne National Grassland - the only such preserve in the United States. It is located along the North Country Trail in North Dakota. I wasn't prepared for how colorful the open prairie would be.

Sunset at the Pea Ridge Civil War Battlefield.  I came to this spot several nights in a row in hopes of getting an epic sunset.  This image, though it lacks clouds or an especially colorful palette, is my favorite one.

Waking up for sunrise can be difficult after a fun night at the lake with the girls, but it is oh so worth it,

Driving around one cloudy day outside of Fargo and there was not much to see besides endless crops. I came home with this shot of an elevator, perfect in black and white.

For at least an hour I sat in the corner of this window, watching the tiger pace and people come and go. This was my favorite image because the kids were so excited, and the Tiger would be terrifying if not for an inch of glass.

After spending a couple months in North Dakota I came home to Arkansas where there wasn't much fall left. This is one of the first days I went out.  It was amazing to be back in the woods of the Ozarks.

Sometimes you just get lucky and have a front row seat to an incredible weather event! It was quite dramatic and of course I loved the shot that included a little lightening action!
